Yea, I hated
all my labour which I had taken
under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. ... For there is a man whose
] in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave
] his portion. This also [is
] vanity and a great evil.
A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so
that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet
God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but
a stranger eateth it: this [is
, and it [is
] an evil disease.
And I will cut
off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn
mine hand against Ekron: and the
remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.
For the day
of the LORD of hosts [shall be
every [one that is
] proud and lofty, and upon every [one that is
] lifted up; and he shall be brought low: ... And the loftiness
of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain
the pride of all glory, [and
] to bring
into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards
of Ephraim, whose
glorious beauty [is
] a fading flower, which [are
] on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome
Now I Nebuchadnezzar
praise and extol and honour the King
of heaven, all
whose works [are
] truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk
in pride he is able to abase.
This shall they have for
their pride, because they have reproached and magnified
] against the people of the LORD of hosts.

younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all

with humility: for God
resisteth the proud, and giveth
grace to the humble.
