a reference to the self appointed Apostle Paul who did not meet the qualifications to be an Apostle(Acts 1). We know that Paul went to Ephesus (Ephesians 1:1) and that all of Asia turned away from him (2Tim 1:15). See also John 5:43, Matt 24:24 and James 2.
