John 12:28

_ _ Father, glorify thy name — by a present testimony.

_ _ I have both glorified it — referring specially to the voice from heaven at His baptism, and again at His transfiguration.

_ _ and will glorify it again — that is, in the yet future scenes of His still deeper necessity; although this promise was a present and sublime testimony, which would irradiate the clouded spirit of the Son of man.

Matthew Henry's Commentary

See commentary on John 12:27-36.

John Wesley's Explanatory Notes

John 12:28

Father, glorify thy name — Whatever I suffer. Now the trouble was over. I have glorified it — By thy entrance into this hour. And I will glorify it — By thy passing through it.

Geneva Bible Translation Notes

John 12:28

Father, (d) glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, [saying], I have both glorified [it], and will glorify [it] again.
