2 Samuel 15:31 And [
one] told David, saying,
Ahithophel [
is] among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee,
turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
2 Samuel 17:14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite [
is] better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had
appointed to defeat the
good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
2 Samuel 17:23 And when Ahithophel
saw that his counsel was not
followed, he saddled [
his] ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and
put his household in order,
and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
Isaiah 19:12-
14 Where [
are] they?
where [are] thy wise [
men]? and
let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt. ... The LORD
hath mingled a
perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken [
man] staggereth in his vomit.
Isaiah 29:14 Therefore, behold,
I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, [
even] a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise [
men] shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent [
men] shall be hid.
1 Corinthians 1:19-
20 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. ... Where
[is] the wise? where [
is] the scribe? where [
is] the disputer of this world?
hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
