Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I [am]
against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great
dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river
] mine own, and I have made [it
] for myself.
And thou say
in thine heart, My power
and the might of [mine
] hand hath gotten me this wealth. ... But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for [it is
] he that
giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may
establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as [it is
] this day.
The rich man's wealth [is
] his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
not to be rich: cease
from thine own wisdom. ... Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which
is not? for [riches]
certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
, and saw under the sun, that the race
] not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but
time and chance happeneth to them all.
sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion [is
] fat, and their meat plenteous
also shall border thereby; Tyrus
, and Zidon
, though it be
very wise. ... Behold, the Lord
will cast her out, and he will
smite her power in the sea; and she shall
be devoured with fire.
