He shall flee from
the iron weapon, [and
] the bow
of steel shall strike him
of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire
of the righteous shall be granted.
Fear, and the pit
, and the snare, [are
] upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. ... And it shall come to pass, [that
] he who fleeth
from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the
windows from on high are open, and the foundations
of the earth do shake.
But ye said, No; for we will
flee upon horses; therefore
shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. ... One thousand
] at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye
be left as a beacon
upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.

, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called
, none did answer; when I spake, they did
not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose [that
] in which I delighted not.
And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I
am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock
me. ... So they shall

Saying, No; but we will go
into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear
the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell: ... Then it shall come to pass, [that] the sword
, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close
after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.
And I will take
the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, [and
] fall in the land of Egypt; they shall [even
] be consumed by the sword [and
] by the famine: they shall die, from the
least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be
an execration, [and
] an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach. ... For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

the Lord standing upon
the altar: and he said, Smite
of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee
away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. ... And though they go
into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set
mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

Who both killed
the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us
; and they please
not God, and are contrary
to all men: ... Forbidding
us to speak to the Gentiles that
they might be saved, to fill
up their sins alway: for
the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
