Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain
bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day
, that I may prove them
, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
And when the children of Israel saw [it
], they said one to another, It [is] manna
: for they wist not what it [was
]. And Moses said unto them, This [is]
the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years
, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders
of the land of Canaan.
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee
with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth
not live by bread only, but by every [word
] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest
forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go
in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn
to give them.
also thy good
spirit to instruct them, and withheldest
not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.
he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened
the doors of heaven, ... Man did eat angels' food: he sent
them meat to the full.
, and he brought quails, and satisfied
them with the bread
The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but
] his disciples were gone away alone; ... This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
